Job Description
Provide statistical analysis support for Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity researchers in various food policy projects. Tasks will include merging data from different sources, preparing data for analysis, verifying data quality, recommending appropriate statistical and analytical methods, evaluating/analyzing data, and presenting results. Research studies will utilize a variety of data sources, including large national data sets, industry data, survey data, and experimental data collected through Rudd-initiated studies. Essential Duties 1. Manage datasets from multiple sources for food policy projects. Clean data, prepare variables for analyses, and perform data quality control.2. Organize and create documents related to datasets; communicate with data sources about data accuracy and data dictionary; clearly label variables and define variables through detailed description in the database.3. Work with Rudd Center researchers to identify testable hypotheses, and develop analytical and econometric methods to analyze data.4. Carry out statistical analyses using STATA, SAS, or SPSS and summarize and present findings to investigators.5. Consult with research personnel to develop appropriate statistical analyses/econometric modeling for Rudd Center economic, community, and obesity stigma research initiatives.6. Contribute information and assist in preparing presentations and writing reports for scientific journals and other publications.7. Ensure data security and compliance with data use agreements by becoming knowledgeable about, and strictly adhering to, the policies and procedures set forth by contractors in their data use agreements.Education and Experience 1. Master’s degree in Statistics or relevant field and preferably one to two years of research experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Additional Required Skills and Experience 1. Knowledge of research design, data collection methods, and principles.2. Excellent knowledge of correlational, experimental, and longitudinal statistical methods (including econometric estimation of linear and non-linear models), procedures and hypothesis testing, and survey data analysis. 3. Familiarity with research protocols.4. Preferred: Experience in HLM, SEM, panel data techniques, and multilevel regression models. Skills & Abilities1. Strong statistical, analytical, and organizational skills; attention to detail.2. Excellent oral and written communications skills.3. Flexibility and ability to work independently and in a team environment.4. Strong knowledge of STATA, SAS, and SPSS.
