The Data Warehouse Architect will lead and consult on the design, implementation and integration of data warehouses and data environments; perform data warehouse design, construction and testing, including data design, database architecture, metadata and repository creation.
Responsibilities:
Define and maintain the Data Warehouse Target Architecture • Define the future state of the Data Warehouse domain. Gather and align to business requirements. Socialize with stakeholders on a recurring basis. • Partner with Solution Architects to define the future state based on analytical requirements from each business vertical. • Provide depth and direction through development of standards, policies, architecture patterns, and frameworks. • Align COAF to corporate enterprise data and Business Intelligence direction through the Enterprise Architecture relationship. • Socialize on a recurring basis, the target architecture along with standards and policies. • Demonstrate solid understanding of the business and close alignment to stakeholder needs.
Develop plan to achieve the Data Warehouse Target Architecture • Help build and maintain a rolling plan to achieve the target architecture • Partner with solution architects, project engineers, application development management, data modelers, database administrators and other stakeholders for input, support, and detail. • Deliver components through Architecture projects, Development projects, and Infrastructure projects • Map the full portfolio of projects. Define initial use of components by pilot projects and availability for broad use. • Guide divisional Data Management direction at both the strategic and tactical levels.
Provide technology leadership • Maintain expertise in the area of data warehousing, including industry trends, strategies, and products. Provide leadership and direction through subject matter expertise. • Determine product suitability and provide recommendations for effective use of COAF assets and investments. • Leverage enterprise and divisional peers to expand the Data Warehouse groups knowledge and resources.
Leverage the COF Enterprise Architecture Relationship • Provide COAF representation for overall corporate direction setting and decision making. • Provide local sponsorship of corporate policy and standards. • Leverage EA resources and programs to benefit COAF and vice versa. • Define integration points in the architectural processes. • Conduct joint technology assessments.
Other • Participate as an active member of the Architectural Review Committee (ARC). • As needed, provide technical oversight to Data Warehouse and business intelligence design and development activities. • Coach and mentor peers and associates in the area of Data Warehouse architecture and Data Management. • Serve as an advocate towards ensuring that the applications and projects align with COAF and enterprise Data Warehouse architecture goals. • Maintain strong and effective working relationships with Development, Technical Operations, and Risk Management teams as well as our COAF business partners
Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree • 1 Year experience in Data Warehouse ETL Development • 2 Years experience in Data Movement Design and Development
• 5 Years experience in Data Warehouse Architecture
Preferred Qualifications: • Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Computer Science or Information Systems • DAMA Certification
• Prior experience designing and building enterprise conceptual or logical data models. • Knowledge and experience using architecture modeling tools. • Minimum of 7-10 years related experience with emphasis in Data Warehouse engineering and development life cycles with at least three years experience involving architectural responsibility. • Working knowledge of Data Management and Data Warehousing technologies related to data modeling, database administration and performance tuning, archiving and disaster recovery. • Depth of knowledge with industry trends related to Data Warehousing, Data Management, metadata, Master Data Management, unstructured data and data quality practices. • Experience managing and leading virtual, cross-functional teams, including defining requirements, developing designs and project plans, and delivering results. • Ability to effectively communicate at different levels in and across the organization and to articulate to non-technical audiences the advantages and disadvantages of using various technologies and standards • Ability to work well with and influence multiple teams, including internal and external departments and organizations. • Prior experience delivering database solutions using RDBMS and OODBMS technologies. • Experience designing large scale analytical databases across multiple operating systems (Windows, UNIX, Teradata).
