Job Description:
SD3 is seeking an Infrastructure Systems Architect. This is a great contract-to-hire opportunity with a large prestigious client of ours located in a northern suburb of Chicago.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and innovation to Technology Services by specializing in Services and Information Architecture and strategy.
  • Lead special projects and major projects setting strategic architectural and software direction.
  • Define the standards and architecture for developing and integrating business modelling, services modelling and Datamodelling as a foundation for development and reuse across the organization.
  • Provide analysis and solutions to technical and business issues.
  • Set corporate direction for processes to better manage reusable designs and code assets.
  • Maintain awareness of business and technology strategies and implement technical alternatives and strategies to gain competitive advantage.
  • Manage vendor relationships, and maintain the complex technical infrastructure of Services and Information Architecture to meet business requirements.
  • Serve as expert in Services and Information Architecture, identify process improvements and problem prevention, and advise department and management of relevant information as appropriate.
  • Define and deliver global and strategic architecture projects.
  • Initiate analysis for complex problems and issues, determine technical alternatives, analyze vendor solutions, and develop appropriate standards for technology application.
  • Initiate and conduct feasibility studies of new and modified solution building blocks.
  • For large solutions, prepare cost/benefit analyses, functional and detail specifications.
  • Perform reviews of new and existing systems to ensure compliance with architectural standards.

Key Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business supplemented by technical course work and 12-15 years of proven and progressive experience; a Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • 5 years experience with software architecture and patterns, Object Oriented Design, UML notation.
  • Experience with multiple Data Warehousing tools, ie DataStage, Business Objects, Cognos, Informatica.
  • Experience architecting solutions in a MPP environment, either Teradata or UDB MPP.
  • Background in software design, architecture and/or Datamodelling.
  • Hands on experience in application design and delivery.
  • Knowledge of Web based application development.
  • Strong communication, project management, analytical, lateral thinking, planning and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and implement technology and to develop comprehensive methodology regarding how and where expertise will benefit the business; have orchestrated the use of this technology and developed metrics for tracking its success.
  • Ability to apply multiple technologies to business situations, to identify and apply productivity improvements, and blend the technical environment with strategic direction.
