ROLE:

• Work in a global team responsible for designing, building and maintaining systems to support the firm s Equities trading businesses
• Interact with other technologists, trading and operations personnel to provide technical solutions
• Applications include trading systems, Web portals, reports of trading analytics & metrics, Business Intelligence ( BI ) software, and web-enabled business process management (BPM) software (a.k.a. workflow management)
• A variety of platforms exist, including MS Windows, Unix/Linux, Java, C#, C++, web-enabled Perl, and Business Intelligence software ( Cognos )
• Candidates should expect to work in high-impact, client-facing environments, and see their work implemented across multiple businesses and regions
• Clients include high profile external clients as well as senior trading and operations heads
• Applications are globally deployed ( Americas , Europe, and Asia )

REQUIRED:

• Strong programming language skills in Java under UNIX and LINUX (most of the Java development will be server side development, less J2EE.)
• Use of SQL and stored procedures to analyze and process trade data
• Excellent understanding of production application design
• Good project management skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong time management skills/ability to multi-task
• Capable of interacting with both technical and business colleagues
• Self-starter, self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision & work independently
• Ability to manage multiple tasks

PREFERRED:

• Market data distribution and/or RV messaging infrastructure experience
• Graduate or Undergraduate degree in Computer Science
• Knowledge of finance and/or experience within the financial services industry
• Experience with various tools for automation, testing and life cycle management
• Knowledge of database and performance tuning techniques
• Perl on Linux, K-shell scripting, and Database/SQL skills required, with HTML, or Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) skills
• Sybase, Sybase IQ experience
• The ideal candidate will have a strong OO C++ background in reliable distributed real-time, high performance trading systems on Unix/Linux platforms
• Experience of capacity planning and performance management
• Capable of designing and modifying complex systems and subsystems
• Strong profiling and optimization skills
• Capable of project-managing multi-developer projects
• Strong mentoring skills
