Organization Objective/Purpose:
The Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization is responsible for Schwab's use of information technology, including all telecommunications, operations, and client and business applications. Our work supports and spans every enterprise at Schwab. From our Web site to wireless, call centers to client branches, STS demonstrates leadership through innovative solutions and superior technology that provide our clients with world-class service. We develop Web trading and customer reporting systems, integrate business units, maintain core brokerage functionality, operate client server systems, provide network architecture, engineering and capacity planning, and oversee centralized mainframe computer systems and database management. STS’s Technology Infrastructure Solutions (TIS) organization provides design, engineering, implementation, and production support services for Schwab’s IT infrastructure.
Brief Description of Role:
As an IT Project Management Governance Specialist supporting TIS infrastructure initiatives at Charles Schwab, you will have the following responsibilities: Direct the ongoing development of Project Management (PM) standards (including tools and processes) for use in all TIS-managed projects. Lead the development of communication, training, and mentoring resources for the TIS PM community to implement and reinforce compliance with PM standards
Lead the development of a TIS Project Management governance framework that addresses PM standards development, monitoring and reporting compliance, and project portfolio analysis. Develop and implement a project review/audit process and monitor Project Phase Gate Reviews. Serve as the TIS Project Management liaison with the: Schwab Central Portfolio Management Office (CPMO) TIS Project Center of Excellence, TIS Program Managers, TIS Account Managers. Evaluate Project Management Maturity Models and develop TIS project management maturity roadmap. In the future, may perform TIS project portfolio analyses to ensure projects support TIS business objectives.
Technical/Functional Qualifications:
Required qualifications include: Experience developing and implementing IT project management standards Detail-orientation, with process-focus and decision making ability Analytical, with ability to understand complex data and manage risk. Team player, with strong communication and collaborative qualities.
Organized, with ability to manage time, change and growth. Bachelors degree in business and/or technology or equivalent experience. In addition, ideal candidates will also have the following desired qualifications:
PMI PMP or PgMP certification
Prior project management experience in an IT environment, preferably related to desktop, distributed systems, mainframe, and storage hardware/software deployments and upgrades.
